Dr. Sonya Belcher
Sonya Gray Belcher was raised in New Jersey and humorously calls herself a Jamerican. She obtained her Bachelors of Arts degree from the University of Virginia in Psychology and a Minor in Spanish. After her experience in college, Dr. Gray Belcher desired a closer relationship with God and the opportunity to meet Adventist friends. Dr. Gray Belcher decided to attend Andrews University in Michigan.
She earned a Masters of Arts degree in Community Counseling and a Doctorate of Philosophy degree in Counseling Psychology from Andrews University. She met her husband, Pastor Cedric N. Belcher, Sr. while he was pursuing his Masters of Divinity degree at Andrews University Theological Seminary. Dr. Cedric N. Belcher, Sr. has a Doctor of Ministry degree from Andrews University Theological Seminary and is the Lead Pastor at Grace Temple Seventh-day Adventist Church in Fort Worth, Texas. They have three children, Gabriella (16 years old), Angellina (14 years old), and Ced, Jr. (12 years old).
Occupationally, Dr. Gray Belcher counseled adolescents, undergraduate and graduate students, and adults. Dr. Gray Belcher also taught psychology classes. She currently holds a license to independently practice psychology in Texas.
She enjoys helping people realize the value God has for them. Counseling people presents opportunities to understand God’s heart, to appreciate the process of healing, and to experience broken people becoming whole. “Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you, will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
